Untertauern is centrally located between the large ski areas of Obertauern, Flachau/Wagrain & St. Johann - Alpendorf (Snow Space Salzburg with 210 kilometers of slopes spread over 12 peaks and 5 valleys) and Schladming - Dachstein (4-mountain ski area with a total of 123 kilometers of slopes).

The Untertauern swimming lake is located in the Untertauern Wildlife and Leisure Park, for refreshing cooling on hot summer days. Adjacent to the swimming lake is a large lawn with a wonderful view of Untertauern and its local mountain, the Geisstein.
